Kynarou, created in 2004, takes its name from the Tamil word «Water Well»

We have been working in India since 2004 with underprivileged and / or untouchable populations. Mainly settled in Tamil Nadu, Kynarou targeted in 2009 the Theni district which is in the west of the state, on its border with Kerala.

We have identified this region as a priority because of a chronic lack of water resources. The rural people we target have a reduced access to poor quality water about one hour and a half every other day and have no access to any toilet facility.

The projects we are carrying out aim at the construction of filtration systems and the rehabilitation of networks, the construction of public sanitary facilities, equipped with wastewater treatment systems and bio-gas systems, the implementation of a system, comprehensive of waste management as well as the development of organic vegetable gardens in each village, supplied with water by the wastewater of each family.

Our wish is to meet the needs of the inhabitants in a circular and global way. A village management committee is formed for each intervention component. Composed of women from the Self Help Group, this committee manages the maintenance and administration of the works as well as the sharing of the resource.
